Santa Clara VTA shifts focus from transit service plan to passenger pass ups

Nov. 18, 2020
The agency will increase service frequency where possible on routes experiencing the most crowding.

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is pausing efforts on advancing its Draft 2021 Transit Service Plan to focus more on the issue of passenger pass ups on existing service due to social distancing requirements.

To address these pass ups, Santa Clara VTA will increase service frequency where possible on the specific routes experiencing the most crowding. This allows the agency to focus on those who are the most reliant upon Santa Clara VTA service and the most impacted.

Updates will be provided soon on which routes will see increased frequency. In the meantime, the agency says it urges customers to sign up to receive service alerts and get real-time crowding information via the Transit app.
