The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (Transpo) announced Lorraine Brown has joined the organization as an operations supervisor.
Brown brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Transpo. She began her career with Metro Transit in Kalamazoo, Mich., as an operator and rose through the ranks holding various positions including dispatcher, lead trainer and operations supervisor before retiring in 2012 after 20 years with the organization.
Brown holds a bachelor’s degree from Davenport University and has completed numerous transit related courses focusing on ADA, leadership, operations and safety. She fills the position previously held by Mike Pancoast who was promoted to the newly created position of safety, security and training manager.
As an operations supervisor, Brown will be responsible for maintaining routes, time points and focusing on service delivery.
“We are excited to have Lorraine on board”, said David Cangany, Transpo general manager. “Her experience will help us focus on service delivery as we continue to improve transit in our community,” continued Cangany.
As part of the reorganization, Transpo is also hiring for the newly created operations manager position.
