San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Director Ed Reiskin apologized to the agency’s Board Of Directors Tuesday, a day after he received a scolding letter from Mayor London Breed.

Acknowledging that the agency “should have planned better” for the two-month closure of a main transit artery — the Twin Peaks Tunnel that connects downtown to the Sunset and other westside neighborhoods — Reiskin assumed personal responsibility for recent delays in Muni bus service.

Breed highlighted those delays in her letter, which also chided Reiskin for insufficient vetting of the construction contractor on the tunnel retrofit, and for a scooter permitting process that seemed to penalize Uber and Lyft.
