Xcelsior CHARGE H2

The Xcelsior CHARGE H2, the first sixty-foot fuel cell-electric bus to complete Altoona, and establishes New Flyer as the only manufacturer to offer both a forty-foot and sixty-foot fuel cell-electric model that qualifies for federal funding.

The Xcelsior CHARGE H2 are vehicles that use environmentally-friendly hydrogen and fuel-cell technology to create electricity and charge batteries for extended-range zero-emission transit operations, saving 85-175 tons of greenhouse gas per year from tailpipe emissions compared to a traditional diesel bus.  With a range of up to 300 miles, the bus can be refueled in 6-20 minutes depending on the model and operating conditions, and requires no overnight plug-in electrical re-charging. The Xcelsior CHARGE H2 also features regenerative braking while decelerating, which recharges the batteries and reduces energy consumption for extending range. The only tailpipe output is clean water vapor.

6.8L V10 3V Propane Engines

ROUSH CleanTech, has developed the first available propane autogas engine certified to California Air Resources Board’s optional low oxides of nitrogen emissions standard for heavy-duty engines with 0.02 grams per brake horsepower-hour (g/bhp-hr). The engine is 90-percent cleaner than the current Environmental Protection Agency’s most stringent 0.2 g/bhp-hr heavy-duty engine standard.

This new certification covers all of ROUSH CleanTech’s 6.8L V10 3V propane engines for Class 4-7 vehicles. Installation of the new optional ultra-low NOx engines has begun with some 2018 Ford commercial vehicles and Blue Bird Vision propane school buses. ROUSH CleanTech, which has deployed more than 18,000 propane autogas vehicles, will manufacture both the low-NOx 0.05 and ultra-low NOx 0.02 g/bhp-hr propane engines.

Stainless Steel Replacement Coolant Level Sensors

Veritech has designed and supplied stainless steel replacements for plastic coolant level sensors on transit buses. The first device in this product line was developed to replace a1/2" NPT plastic upper coolant switch used on NABI buses at New Jersey Transit. This resulted in an order for 1000 units from

NABI Bus, many of which were installed at NJ Transit. The part number for the latest version of this sensor is VT220794 and features the same independent sensor arm and float as Veritech's replacement for the OEM plastic sensor low coolant level sensor, Veritech VT220594-D. There is a minimum order quantity of 25 units.
