CALSTART to administer FTA’s Research to Practice Initiative

Dec. 22, 2021
The new initiative aims to find the best ways to promote FTA research and put promising results into practice.

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has awarded a cooperative agreement valued at $545,000 to CALSTART, a nonprofit organization that works on sustainable transportation out of Pasadena, Calif., to administer the agency’s new Research to Practice (R2P) Initiative. The goal is to identify the best ways to promote FTA’s research so transit agencies can put promising results into practice.

R2P will help FTA advance innovation by effectively communicating the results of FTA’s most promising research findings across the transit industry as well as develop strategies to put successful results into use on the ground.

CALSTART will partner with the National Transportation Center at Morgan State University, a historically Black university, and the University of Florida’s Transportation Institute to accomplish the goals of the new initiative.
