The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) has announced a new partnership with Uber in an effort to provide more transit options for those traveling within Highland Village. As part of the new pilot program, those traveling within the specified Highland Village Zone will receive a $2 discount for Uber rides.
Below is how the new discount program works:
- If a person requests a ride through the Uber app that starts and ends within the Highland Village Zone between Monday and Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., a $2 discount will automatically be applied to the individual’s total at the end of their trip.
- If a person requests a ride through the Uber app for trips that start and/or end at the Medical Center of Lewisville (MCL) with a pick up location and/or destination in the Highland Village Zone between Monday and Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., they will receive $2 off their trip when they enter the special promotional code DCTAHV.
“This pilot discount program is a great addition to the services we already offer in Highland Village,” said Jim Cline, DCTA president. “Our collaboration with Uber will help us better meet the needs of our community, maximize passenger travel convenience, increase ridership and operational efficiencies, and decrease operational costs.”
DCTA welcomes rider feedback via GORequest to optimize the pilot program over time. As the pilot program grows, DCTA hopes to expand it in more areas throughout Denton County.
"Uber's mission is to empower people with freedom to get a reliable ride, regardless of where they live, and this partnership is a big step towards accomplishing our goal," said Beth Huddleston, Uber general manager. "We are honored to work with the DCTA to make it easy and affordable for North Texans to move around the city."
