The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) recently announced that its RTA Authority Mapping and Statistics (RTAMS) website has been updated and provides even more information to regional residents. The new RTAMS website offers upgraded features and content and continues to be a powerful transit information tool for riders, elected officials, area planners and more. Developed with input from other regional transit agencies, such as the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra and Pace, RTAMS serves as the regional data warehouse of planning and financial information about the northeastern Illinois public transportation system.
RTAMS provides a wealth of online information, including CTA, Metra and Pace ridership numbers; quantity and type of buses and trains that serve the nearly 300 communities in the region; transit oriented development planning projects throughout the region, along with information about funding sources; amount of sales tax collected in each community and county, and more.
The site, which was launched over a decade ago, is constantly being improved. Its latest features include:
- Enhanced interactive maps for easier display and understanding
- Updated content information, including 2014 Metra ridership by station
- A new sleek design and color palette
- Menu system that makes the site easier to navigate
“The site enhancements make our asset database a more powerful tool and offers the latest in data and mapping technology,” said RTA Executive Director Leanne Redden. “This site was created internally by RTA staff and is a proven resource for important transit data warehouse of transit information in our region.”
RTAMS includes the latest in mapping technology, providing larger, attractive, faster drawing maps with optional aerial imagery. RTAMS is a great tool for the public, transit and regional government agencies, educational institutions and consultants who are seeking transit-related information.
