NFTA rolls out MetGo app for better rider experience

Benefits of the app include ease of access, as well as fare capping, which ensures riders won’t pay more than $5 a day no matter how much they ride the bus or rail.

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) is providing riders with a more efficient and convenient way of paying for their rides.

Customers can now download the MetGo app, which works on an account-based system. Riders can load money on the app and use it to pay the fare for Metro services system-wide.

Benefits include ease of access, as well as fare capping, which ensures riders won’t pay more than $5 a day no matter how much they ride the bus or rail.

“Making public services as easy to access as possible is a top priority for us,” said James Morrell, director of public transportation at NFTA. “The launch of this app marks a major milestone as we enter into implementing this new state-of-the-art fare collection system.”

The Metgo app is now available on both iPhone and Android platforms.

Riders who do not have access to a smartphone can purchase a reloadable MetGo card for $2 at the NFTA’s customer service center.
