Carpoolers commuting to Bay Area Transit's Lafayette Station can get guaranteed parking until 10am when they use carpooling app, Scoop.
BART will allocate permit parking spaces at Lafayette station specifically for carpoolers using Scoop, an app that connects drivers and fills seats in vehicles already driving to BART stations.
“There are a lot of areas surrounding the Lafayette BART station that don’t have access to transit and the lots fill up early at this station, so we think this program will really improve access to the station.” said Nikki Foletta, principal planner at BART.
The Scoop to BART program continues its goal to relieve impacted BART parking and improve work commutes. It offers guaranteed parking before 10am, and carpoolers using Scoop will no longer need to rush to find parking before 7am, when first-come, first-served parking spaces regularly fill up at Lafayette Station.
“We’re proud to partner with BART to help improve what, for many of us, is one of the worst parts of our day: our commutes,” said David Clavens, head of marketing at Scoop. “Together, we hope to help make commutes across the Bay Area more enjoyable and efficient with the expansion of the Scoop to BART program, ultimately helping commuters be happier and less stressed in their day-to-day lives.”
