EllisDon Infrastructure Transit reaches financial close for RER Rutherford Station project
EllisDon Infrastructure Transit (EDIT) achieved financial close in mid-December on the C$239-million (US$174.47-million) contract to design, build and finance the Regional Express Rail (RER) - Rutherford Station Project.
“We look forward to delivering this project that will improve the transit experience for commuters and help Metrolinx achieve their vision of providing faster and more frequent service across the GO rail network," said EllisDon Civil Vice President and Area Manager Max Mantha. “I am very proud of our team and our continuing work on the Metrolinx RER Program.”
In addition to the new Rutherford GO Station, the RER - Rutherford Station Project also includes a new multi-level parking structure with an integrated station building, in addition to a re-design of the surface parking, kiss and ride and bus loop. The project also brings improved pedestrian access, new rail platforms and a second heavy rail track and provision for future third express center track, as well as a rail/road grade separation on Rutherford Road.
EllisDon Civil and EllisDon Design-Build will be the constructors within the EDIT team, while design is being handled by Wood, Strasman Architects Inc., Mulvey & Banani International Inc., The Aquila Group, Condor Signals & Communications Inc. and NAK Design Strategies. EllisDon Capital Inc. will serve as the team’s financial advisor.
EDIT will commence design work immediately, with construction beginning in spring 2019 and completion expected in 2023.
