Pierce Transit to temporarily close South Hill Mall Transit Center for renovations

July 22, 2021
Projects include replacing sidewalks, making ADA improvements and more.

Pierce Transit is temporarily closing its South Hill Mall Transit Center for the remainder of the year for renovations.

The transit center was built in 1999 and is due for renovative work. Projects will include replacing most of the concrete upon which buses travel, replacing sidewalks, making ADA improvements, upgrading and painting shelters and making improvements to employee restrooms used by bus drivers and transit support staff.

The South Hill Mall Transit Center is served by Pierce Transit routes 4 (Lakewood-South Hill), 400 (Puyallup-Downtown Tacoma), 402 (Meridian Ave) and 425 (Puyallup Connector). While the transit center is closed, all operations will be moved to Sound Transit’s South Hill Park & Ride at 3102 – 9th St. SW in Puyallup, about one mile north. Customers who catch their bus at the South Hill Mall Transit Center should go to the South Hill Park & Ride instead.
