Longview Transit launched a new mapping software March 31 that allows riders to track their bus routes in real-time.
The new mapping software is part of an update to Longview Transit’s website and shows the current location of the user, Longview Transit buses and designated bus stops.
The tool has been optimized to work seamlessly on a computer or mobile device.
“Our riders have asked for years for the ability to track buses, but it’s always been cost prohibitive. Fortunately, we found a great vendor who was able to build us a custom solution, so every rider has access to the same real-time information our dispatch sees,” Longview Transit General Manager Scott Lewis said. “We know that once word of this new tool gets out, our customers will be thrilled to be able to check on the status of their bus whenever they want.”
The interactive map, which is available at LongviewTransit.com/Map, is currently only available through the website.
Longview Transit has also begun working on a mobile phone application that will coincide with adjustments to the bus system’s fare collection policies and procedures.
