A quick-thinking passenger on board a New Jersey Transit bus and a group of Port Authority police officers helped save the life of a man who was having a heart attack Monday afternoon.

The 69-year-old Hackensack resident had just left the Port Authority Bus Terminal on a Ridgewood-bound bus at about 4:25 p.m. when he suffered a "cardiac emergency," officials said.

Officer Nicholas Armenti took the 69-year-old off the bus so first responders could have more room to provide medical care.

Outside of the North Tube of the Lincoln Tunnel, officers Kevin McGimpsey and Krystal Armenti continued CPR while bridge agents Chris Kerrigan and Nicholas Natole used a defibrillator to shock the man.
