More than a decade after filing formal complaints of racial discrimination, a Halifax man has been offered an apology from a municipal executive.

Halifax CAO Jacques Dube has issued an apology on behalf of HRM to a transit employee, after a Nova Scotia Human Rights Board of Inquiry found racially motivated discrimination in its transit department.

The employee, whose name is protected under a publication ban, filed complaints of widespread racial discrimination to the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission in July 2006. His complaints were directed at his employer, Metro Transit — since renamed Halifax Transit.
