The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority has announced auditions for its newest public arts program — Talent on Track. The two-day music competition will feature some of Atlanta’s hidden musical talents as they contend for a spot on the inaugural MARTA musicians’ roster.
Talent on Track, an Artbound program, is the latest installment of MARTA’s reinvigorated arts engagement initiative developed to enhance the ridership experience through visual and performance arts.
Participants and spectators are encouraged to join MARTA’s Artbound team at Five Points Station on Wednesday, Sept. 13 and Thursday, Sept. 14 from 2 – 6 p.m. for live auditions. Special guest judges from Atlanta’s music scene will choose 20 musicians to perform during the holidays at various MARTA stations system wide.
“We are looking for talented artists, representing various music genres, to be a part of this incredible program that will run from mid-November through December,” said MARTA GM/CEO Keith Parker. “Music remains a common denominator that transcends age, race, culture, gender and more. We look forward to Talent on Track making the evening ride home even more enjoyable and of course entertaining.”
MARTA Arts Administrator Katherine Dirga believes Talent on Track will enliven the daily commute for riders. “Atlanta has become this incredible hub for some of the most dynamic talent in the arts,” said Dirga. “We are excited to see the depth of talent that is right here in our backyard and look forward to showcasing those selected performers at some of our most high traffic stations this fall.”
