The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has announced that an important step has been achieved for the Green Line Extension Project. The evaluation of the Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) for the project has been completed and three highly-qualified teams have been selected for the short list of firms that will be eligible to compete for designation as design-build. Under the design-build contract which will be executed, the project will be delivered by a single firm which will work under a single contract for the design and construction of the Green Line Extension Project.
John Dalton, program manager, said this step shows that the momentum continues.
“The strong interest in the project from these highly-regarded firms underscores that the project is being taken as seriously by the design build industry as it is by MassDOT and the MBTA. These firms have the well-earned reputation for delivering complex projects in the United States and abroad and we are pleased that they are demonstrating an interest in working with us to successfully deliver this Project,” Dalton said.
The Statements of Qualifications were received from three proposer teams, which include local, national and international firms. Below are the short listed design-build teams.

The Green Line Extension Project will extend the MBTA Green Line on two new branches from Lechmere Station in East Cambridge to Union Square in Somerville and to College Avenue in Medford. There will be seven new stations constructed as part of the project, including the relocated Lechmere Station.
