The BART Board of Directors held its annual election for leadership positions today, voting Dir. Rebecca Saltzman President and Dir. Robert Raburn Vice President.

"We have a tremendous amount of activity to look forward to in 2017,” said Dir. Saltzman.  “BART will put the first new train cars into service, issue the first portion of the recently-approved bond, work on transit-oriented development, and continue improving stations and access.”

Director Saltzman has represented District 3 since 2012, emphasizing environmental issues and the accessibility of public transit in low-income communities.

Vice President Robert Raburn, who has represented District 4 since 2010, was similarly optimistic and thankful for the opportunity to serve.

“With BART 2.0 on the way, we must focus on our passengers while delivering new cars, rebuilding BART, and creating new jobs and housing at our stations,” he added.

The BART Board of Directors elects a President and Vice President each year to perform various parliamentary duties and guide the direction of the Board. Former Directors Tom Radulovich and Gail Murray held the respective positions in the previous year.
