The Maryland Department of Transportation’s Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will temporarily halt Light Rail service Nov. 18-20 in the city’s Central business District along Howard St. for needed track repairs.
The shutdown in service will begin Friday at 6 p.m. and will last until regular service resumes on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Light Rail stations that will be closed include Penn Station, University of Baltimore/Mt. Royal, Cultural Center/State Center, Centre Street, Lexington Market, University Center and Convention Center.
To minimize the inconvenience, MTA will provide free shuttle bus service for passengers from the Camden Yards Light Rail station north to the North Avenue station.
“This track work will help increase the safety, efficiency and reliability of the Light Rail system,” said MTA Deputy Administrator Suhair Al Khatib. “Our customers’ safety is paramount so we ask our riders to plan ahead if riding our Light Rail service that weekend.”
If rain forces a postponement of the project, it will be moved to the following weekend starting November 25 at 6 p.m. and ending November 27 at 11 a.m.
