Making its international debut at InnoTrans 2016 will be a product which demonstrates just how quiet and environmentally friendly rail transport can be. As Prokop Rail a.s., which manufactures infrastructural equipment, explains, with the aid of Stered, a reprocessed waste product from the automobile industry, noise and vibration levels are reduced for the entire length of the Brens display track. At the same time the water that is retained is returned to the natural environment through evaporation. In this way Brens creates a "symbolic link between automobile and rail transport," according to Jan Eisenreich, statutory director of the Czech company.
Trade visitors at InnoTrans 2016 can find Brens, along with many other world debuts, products and services in the infrastructural field, in the Railway Infrastructure segment. This covers an overall area of some 33,000 square metres (gross), making it the second largest specialist segment at the trade fair. From September 20-23, more than 560 exhibitors from all over the world are occupying seven halls as well as the Outdoor Display, with a wide portfolio of machinery and services in the field of track-laying and maintenance, electrical energy installations and overhead power line equipment, rails, points and sleepers, as well as signalling and control systems, construction materials and measuring instruments.
For example, Dätwyler Sealing Technologies Deutschland GmbH is featuring one of the items making its world premiere, showing how damage can be automatically detected when driving over flush track. ASE AG from Germany is presenting a new type of camera-based identification system.
The Outdoor Display: from tilting, flat-lattice masts to ballast wagons
The orders were placed at last InnoTrans, and this year sees the international launch: the development cycle for the new operational vehicles, ‘54.17 track vehicle’, ’55.70 ballast hopper’ and ’55.70 low-floor trailer’ has been short and highly effective. The German manufacturer of construction machinery, Robel Bahnbaumaschinen GmbH, has customized them for the Cologne transport authority (KVB). The tilting, flat-lattice mast from BBL Bahnbau Lüneburg GmbH is also making its international debut on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. During maintenance work this unit can be tilted by a single operator.
Among the other exhibits which can be inspected by trade visitors are the road-rail track-laying Unimog U423 vehicle from Daimler AG Mercedes-Benz and the Unimat 09-32/4S DYNAMIC E³ railway construction unit from Plasser und Theurer, as well as vehicles and equipment from SRS Sjölanders AB, Sweden, and from the British company Rail Products UK Ltd.
