Following the successful merger of the two state-owned companies CNR Corporation and CSR Corporation in 2014, the Chinese conglomerate CRRC (China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation Limited), a transport company and rolling stock manufacturer, is making its first appearance at InnoTrans 2016. Italian state railways, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, is returning after several years absence.
The presence of these two companies is evidence of an ongoing trend at InnoTrans which, as the leading international trade fair for the world’s rail transport sector, places the emphasis on investment goods, displaying the entire supply chain for the production of rolling stock. From the very start of this event transport companies, as the buyers of the products on display, have formed the main target group among trade visitors. To an increasing extent these companies are also using this marketing platform as exhibitors in order to demonstrate their capabilities and promote their image.
From 20 to 23 September a total of 18 national and international transport companies will be presenting their products and services on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. The most prominent among them is Deutsche Bahn AG, which has been exhibiting since the first InnoTrans took place in 1996, and is again staging one of the most wide-ranging displays.
Large involvement by international transport companies
Transport companies are well represented among the exhibitors, with extensive international involvement. Over two thirds of these exhibitors are from abroad, and they include East Japan Railway Company, JSC Russian Railways, RTA (Roads & Transport Authority) from Dubai, ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG and TCDD (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları).
