The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is seeking input from the community on which transit technology – bus rapid transit or urban light rail – would best serve future travel needs along Maryland Parkway, a vital valley corridor that carries nearly 9,000 transit riders and 33,000 cars per day. Currently conducting the environmental assessment of proposed transportation improvements along the corridor, the RTC will hold three public meetings to discuss the topic.

Community members are invited to attend the upcoming meetings to review and discuss initial concepts for the corridor, as well as provide input on which transit technology and associated improvements best match the needs of the neighborhoods in the area. The meetings will be an open house format with handout materials and staff available to answer questions about the project.

Identified as an opportunity site for reinvestment in the Southern Nevada Strong Regional Plan, Maryland Parkway is a key regional corridor for employment, transit connectivity, and potential revitalization. Investments in transportation infrastructure along Maryland Parkway between McCarran International Airport and downtown Las Vegas with a connection to the Las Vegas Medical District, could improve the community’s mobility by enhancing vehicle, transit, pedestrian and bicycle access to the area.
