The Long Island Rail Road’s popular Mail&Ride program just got easier for the thousands of customers who put pre-tax savings toward the cost of their monthly ticket. They no longer have to pay their balance by check.

For the first time, the LIRR’s Mail&Ride web page www.mailandride.com is accepting payment transactions from commuters who want to use a personal credit card after paying the initial installment with pre-tax debit card from their company’s Transit Benefit Program.

Mail&Ride customers can now register two cards, the Transit Benefit Program debit card and a personal credit card, with the LIRR and make the payment all at once by indicating how much to take from each. In the past, an online payment could only be made with the debit card.

“Our upgraded web page gives customers the ability to make one-time payments by simply signing in to your account and using the new one-time payment feature,” said LIRR President Patrick A. Nowakowski.

Mail&Ride customers enjoy the convenience of having their monthly LIRR ticket mailed automatically to them like clockwork and if they add an unlimited MetroCard to their purchase they get a 2% discount on their LIRR fare. And don’t forget, all LIRR Mail&Ride customers are automatically entered in a sweepstakes for a free monthly ticket.
