Original Highliner Cars to Make Last Run on Metra

Forty-four years after debuting on the Illinois Central, now the Metra Electric Line, the last of the original Highliner cars will carry their final passengers from Chicago to University Park.

Forty-four years after debuting on the Illinois Central, now the Metra Electric Line, the last of the original Highliner cars will carry their final passengers from Chicago to University Park. On Friday, Feb. 12 there will be welcoming remarks at 10 a.m. before the train departs at 10:30 a.m.

In attendance will be Metra executive director/CEO Don Orseno, members of the Metra Board of Directors, State Sen. Martin Sandoval and State Rep. Al Riley. 

The train departs from Millennium Station on Randolph Street and Michigan Avenue.
