Arup, a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm with a reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable designs, is pleased to welcome Peter Guest, PE to the New York office. As part of the infrastructure team, Guest will bring extensive experience in rail, transit, design-build, and major project delivery to support Arup’s work around the region.
Guest holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering in Geological Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and with more than 30 years of experience as a corporate officer, field and design engineer, project manager, and program director, he brings a wealth of experience to Arup’s regional infrastructure team. With extensive experience involving project planning, scope development, fee preparation, and change order negotiation, Guest has led negotiations for large, complex engineering and rail and transit projects, including those that required large-scale international staff deployment and supervision of large teams and sub consultant staff.
“We’ve known and collaborated with Pete for many years on a number of projects, most recently on the ARC Tunnel project between Manhattan and New Jersey. We’re looking forward to the added support and expertise his considerable experience will bring to Arup, especially in our rail and heavy civil infrastructure services,” says Arup principal and infrastructure leader for New York, Craig Covil.
Prior to joining Arup, Guest recently delivered the Houston Metro Light Rail Expansion Project as project director for Parsons, who served as managing partner for the Houston Rapid Transit Joint Venture. Guest and his team were responsible for the ultimate delivery and closeout of the project that included design, construction, integration, testing, and commissioning of the associated electrical, signalling, and communications systems. In addition, while at Parsons Guest served on projects for The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), Amtrak, and the Bay Area Regional Transit (BART).
An accredited engineer in Colorado, Guest has been a member of the New York Building Congress since 2011, and is also an active member of American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) and the Metropolitan Railway Club of New York. In addition to numerous technical publications in the field of soil and groundwater remediation, he has chaired numerous technical sessions at national conferences.
