RTA Invests in Track Improvements along Waterfront Line
As the popularity of Flats East Bank grows, so does RTA service.
RTA is giving extra attention to stations in the Flats by improving new grade crossings along the Waterfront Line from Oct. 5 through Oct 17. At the intersection of Robert Lockwood Drive and St. Clair Avenue in the Flats, at the Settler’s Landing Station, new tracks will be installed, asphalt paving will be added and a new pedestrian crossing and sidewalks will be installed. RTA will also replace track and grade crossings as well at sidewalks at Settlers Landing Station at the intersection of Old River Road and W. St. Clair.
This is all part of RTA’s $115 million in capital improvements -- underway for the remainder of 2015 and throughout 2016. Included are rail repairs, new stations, additional buses and new trolleys.
From Oct. 5-17 67R buses replace trains between the Tower City and South Harbor. Buses will run on a schedule similar to rail, but customers are encouraged to allow extra travel time to reach your destination.
Pick up and drop off locations are at specially marked 67R stop signs. The stop for Tower City is on Public Square in front of the Horseshoe Casino.
The Robert Lockwood Drive will be open to traffic during weekdays and closed during weekends for work.
Regular service will resume on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 5 a.m. for the Browns Game that day. Most of the work will be done on nights and weekends to accommodate rush hour
