Sylvain Laporte Joins Hatch Mott MacDonald

Sylvain Laporte has joined Hatch Mott MacDonald as a vice president and deputy practice leader for the company’s rail and transit practice. He is based in HMM’s Montreal office.

Nick DeNichilo, president and CEO of Hatch Mott MacDonald, said, “Sylvain Laporte brings an extraordinary depth of expertise to our Rail & Transit practice. Over the course of his career, he has worked as a designer, builder, planner, project manager, and team manager on a variety of road and rail projects.”

Laporte has more than 28 years of experience in civil engineering, including more than 20 years in the railway industry and 10 years in transit. He has led projects for clients including Via Rail, Transports Canada, Ministère des Transports du Québec, Rio Tinto, Agence Métropolitaine des Transports (Montreal), City of Montreal, and Montreal Airport. He now represents HMM in the rail sector for the company’s Canada East Division.

Laporte is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), the Project Management Institute, the Association des ingénieurs-conseils du Québec, the Association québécoise des transports et des routes, the Canadian Urban Transit Association, the Canadian Rail Club, and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA).
