Keolis Commuter Services announced the sponsorship of the Boston Police Hockey Team at this summer’s World Police and Fire Games in Washington, D.C. and Fairfax, Va.
At a brief ceremony, Keolis General Manager Gerald C. Francis presented a ceremonial check for $1,000 to Gerard and Mark McHale, coaches of the Boston Police Hockey Team, to cover team expenses as they compete June 26-28 in the Olympics of First Responders.
More than 12,000 police officers and firefighters from across the world will travel to Washington D.C., this summer to compete in the 2015 World Police & Fire Games, including first responders from the Boston area. Keolis is a national sponsor of this exciting and inspiring event.
“Each day in Boston, police officers, EMTs and firefighters are there for all of us, and this is an opportunity for us to be there for them,” said Francis. “The World Police and Fire Games is an amazing outlet for these men and women to show their expertise outside of work, and allows us to honor them as both heroes and athletes.”
“We won the silver in 2011 and beat Finland in 2013 before they ended up winning gold,” said Gerard McHale, assistant coach and general manager of the Boston Police Hockey Team (Emerald Society). “We play the best competition we can get, and it’s a wonderful way to represent Boston. We’re proud that Keolis is part of our team.”
