CTC announced May 20 that Dan Guerrero has joined the company in a newly created position, vice president of signal systems.
Guerrero, who has spent more than 45 years in various communication and signal positions in the rail industry, will support design and implementation of rail signal systems and products for the company, including Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) and Positive Train Control (PTC) applications. Most recently, Guerrero served as assistant director of PTC and C&S Technical Services at Metrolink, a California commuter transit agency operated by the Southern California Regional Rail Authority. There, his primary duties included supporting the development and implementation of Positive Train Control (PTC), along with project alignment among regulatory, freight and commuter passenger railroad stakeholders.
“I have known Dan for many years and have tremendous respect for him as a person and as a rail signal expert,” said Rick Campbell, president of CTC. “He brings a wealth of institutional knowledge of rail signal systems to the company and will add value to CTC’s service offerings.”
While at Metrolink, Guerrero assisted with the initial rollout and development of PTC on Metrolink, interfacing with regulatory compliance and industry partners. Other career accomplishments at Metrolink include developing and implementing signal design and installation standards and criteria, developing signal maintenance requirements, and, jointly with the city of Los Angeles, initially developing and implementing an IEEE-1570 serial data preemption system interface, which was the first of its kind in the country. Prior to his stint at Metrolink, Guerrero held communication and signal positions of increasing responsibility at Southern Pacific Transportation Company, a railroad that was acquired by the Union Pacific Railroad.
“I’m pleased to join CTC and further enhance CTC’s service offerings,” said Guerrero. “I am looking forward to ensuring that clients benefit from added value.”
