Brandon Swartley, PE, Systra’s sector manager for traction power, accepted the 2013 Chapter of the Year Award from the Philadelphia section of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
The award was presented on April 13 at IEEE’s 2013 annual awards and recognition dinner in Philadelphia. Swartley serves as chair of IEEE’s Philadelphia chapter of the Vehicular Technology Society (VTS), which concentrates its activities on land, airborne, and maritime mobile services; portable commercial and citizen’s communications services; vehicular electrotechnology, equipment, and systems for the automotive industry; and traction power, signals, communications and control systems for public transportation and the railroad industry. Swartley accepted the award on behalf of his chapter.
At Systra Swartley is responsible for all traction power and electrical systems design projects. His key clients include Amtrak, WMATA, Metro North Railroad, New Jersey Transit, and Long Island Rail Road.
