ABB has received a contract from Toronto-based electrical contractor Ozz Electric. The contract includes the supply and commissioning of DC traction power equipment for the Leslie Barn, the Toronto Transit Commission’s new streetcar maintenance and storage facility.
ABB’s scope of supply includes providing four 2MW/600Vdc Transformer and Traction Rectifier Units, DC switchgear and various DC distribution equipment. ABB will also provide technical support and commissioning services to Ozz Electric for this project. The installation of ABB’s DC traction power supply equipment will enable TTC operators to manoeuver new, low-floor modern streetcars within the state-of-the-art maintenance and storage facility.
“ABB has a proven track record for providing innovative solutions to the rail sector,” says Chris Poynter, vice president, general manager of the discrete automation and motion division for ABB in Canada. “It also confirms our position as a reliable, long-term partner and supplier of choice for the makers of modern rail systems.”
