The most significant exhibition for the international rail industry is taking place again this year in Berlin. During this four-day event – from September 18 to 21 – the industry will be presenting its latest products and services on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Judging by the applications that have already been received, in the ninth edition of InnoTrans there is significant expansion in all sectors of the trade fair. As a consequence the leading trade show for rail transport technology continued to consolidate its position as the global market place for the industry.
Bookings Surpass Expectations
On the basis of the bookings already received the display area in the halls far exceeds that of InnoTrans 2010. However, the industry's interest is not focused solely on the exhibition halls, and there has been an equally keen demand for the outdoor display area. All 3,500 metres of track have already been reserved for the presentation of rolling stock. Organizer Messe Berlin has responded to this massive demand by creating new capacity in additional halls and with customized solutions to individual placement requirements. The aim is to provide a satisfactory response to all subsequent applications received by February 15, the deadline for submissions.
Asia accounts for a particularly large share of the exhibitors in this trade show, and by the start of this year companies from that continent had reserved some 40 percent more display space, compared with the last time that this event was held. There is also a stronger presence by companies from the United States. The interest being shown by the European rail industry in participating here remains as high as ever. In terms of international involvement it is already obvious that this trade fair will surpass the levels set in previous years, and currently foreign exhibitors account for over 50 percent of the total.
