A funding plan is being cobbled together by a host of agencies to get train service to downtown Novato as tight deadlines loom.
The cost to build a downtown Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit Novato train stop has increased by more than $2 million in recent months. Now the city is faced with finding extra funds to complete the now $5.2 million project.
The City Council will take up the issue in July. In the meantime Novato officials are looking to local and regional agencies for cash to address the increased cost.
