Upwards of 10,000 GO Train riders were stopped in their tracks Wednesday morning because of a train blocking all the tracks on the line between Kitchener and Toronto.

The train was blocking all tracks, and a signal was damaged west of Malton.

Because thousands were affected, Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins said there were too many people to bus.

The train causing the problem was moved around 9 a.m. and a temporary fix was made to the switch. Aikins told CBC News she expected normal service to resume by the afternoon.
