NJ: Feds Could Fine NJ Transit for Failing to Meet Safety Deadlines

According to reports NJ Transit could pay a penalty up to $25,000 for falling behind on its progress on a mandatory safety system known as positive train control.

According to reports NJ Transit could pay a penalty up to $25,000 for falling behind on its progress on a mandatory safety system known as positive train control.

Positive train control was required by Congress in 2008 and is supposed to be completed by Dec. 2018.

The system automatically stops or slows trains to prevent them from exceeding speed limits in a specific location.
