Coroner's officials identified the man struck and killed by a Caltrain in Mountain View on Wednesday as Cecil Joseph Bloch.
The 63-year-old Mountain View resident was killed south of the San Antonio station at about 6:50 p.m., according to Caltrain officials.
As of Wednesday, San Mateo County sheriff's deputies who patrol the rail line were investigating whether Bloch committed suicide or was accidentally hit by the southbound baby bullet express train.
It was the seventh fatality on the Caltrain tracks this year.
