The Transportation Authority of Marin will meet Thursday night to decide if it will approve a funding request from the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit agency.
SMART is asking the authority to request $82.2 million from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission on its behalf for work on the rail line.
SMART critics are crying foul, saying if the rail agency ends up getting its requested money, other road and transportation projects and bus service in Marin could be left out in the cold.
TAM will meet at 7 p.m. at the Board of Supervisors chambers at the Civic Center in San Rafael, 3501 Civic Center Drive, Room 330.
