New Delhi, March 15 -- Delhi Metro's entire civil construction can withstand stress and strain in case of eventualities of natural calamities like earthquake. According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), it has followed all necessary standards including Indian Railway Standards (IRS), Indian Road Congress (IRC), Ind
ian Standards (IS) and other international standards and codes from countries which are highly earthquake prone.
"The structures in the Capital have been designed in such a manner that they can withstand earthquake forces likely to occur in zone 4 of the seismic zones identified in India," said Anuj Dayal, DMRC spokesperson. The corporation has adopted additional measures to avoid any disaster in the underground section as well.
"An earthquake sensor has been installed at Patel Chowk underground the Metro station of Line-2 that connects Jahangirpuri with Gurgaon to measure tremors," he added.
