STM changes executive committee structure

Feb. 13, 2023
The shift in the executive committee from eight directors to five with two deputy general directors is aimed at keeping the agency focused on its core mission.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is changing its executive committee to ensure focus of its strategic efforts on its primary mission: Offer a safe, reliable, fast, user-friendly and accessible public transit service to all Montrealers.

STM explains evolving travel habits of its customers means the agency must rethink and shift how its plans and deliver service to ensure it offers more flexibility and performance to the greatest benefit of its customers.

As of Feb. 13, its executive committee will now have five executive directors, rather than eight, as well as two deputy general directors. All the responsibilities and expertise of STM employees will be integrated within those departments. These changes will reduce the executive committee payroll by eight percent.

This new corporate structure will also make it possible to maximize collaboration and agility within the STM in addition to laying the necessary foundations for the all-electric transformation.

“As the environment in which we evolve continues to challenge us and inspire us to change and assume our role as a leader in sustainable mobility, it is crucial for us that we equip ourselves with a transversal structure to better support our employees in the delivery of our service, for the benefit of all Montrealers,” said Marie-Claude Léonard, CEO of the STM.
