Thomas Young has been named the manager of accessible transit services at Valley Metro, where he will provide safe, convenient and comfortable service to passengers that is accessible and usable by all.
Young comes to Valley Metro from Atlanta, Ga., where he was interim assistant general manager of bus operations at Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). He is also a former elected official, previously serving as port commissioner for the Port of Hoodsport in Washington state.
Young’s primary focus in public transportation goes beyond meeting people’s basic needs through mobility and includes a full understanding of the economic value public transportation plays in a community’s growth opportunities and successes. He brings more than 35 years of management experience in public transportation and social services.
