Thomas Mangold joined HNTB Corporation as rail program manager in the firm’s King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, office. Mangold, with an accomplished career spanning more than four decades in the region, will support HNTB’s largest and most complex transit and rail infrastructure projects.
Mangold comes to HNTB from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority, where he most recently oversaw the power department’s engineering, maintenance and construction groups, as well as its capital construction programs, as chief engineering officer.
“Tom brings HNTB invaluable connections and insight to the people and projects that will move this region forward in the years to come,” said Chris Price, PE, vice president and interim Philadelphia office leader for HNTB. “His extensive rail experience, technical knowledge and proven leadership will help our clients deliver transformative rail projects essential to the region’s future mobility and economic vitality.”
In addition to managing critical departments and functions, Mangold’s decades of experience also include strategic planning; overhead contact systems (OCS) inspections, maintenance and construction; and development of standards for design, engineering, OCS training programs and quality control processes. Additionally, he has fabricated and installed catenary structures and bridges; served on labor negotiating committees; and coordinated communications with commuter and other rail organizations.
HNTB is a leading infrastructure solutions firm in the U.S., and has involvement in some of the region’s most complex transportation infrastructure projects, including the Metro-North Railroad Penn Station Access project; Susquehanna River Bridge Project; design and construction management for the Ben Franklin Bridge Port Authority Transit Corporation Track Rehabilitation project; OCS and third-rail projects with MTA in Maryland, WMATA in Washington, Metro-North, New Jersey Transit and Long Island Railroad.
