KCATA Hires Veteran Journalist to Direct Communications
The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority has hired Nima Shaffé, a veteran broadcast journalist. In his new role as corporate communications manager, he will manage daily communications strategies and marketing efforts for the KCATA.
He is a familiar face to Kansas City audiences. He spent several years at CBS affiliate KCTV5 as a reporter before taking his talent to the Detroit market and the network level.
During his time at KCTV5, he started a consulting business working with various organizations, including the Kansas City Police Department, providing media training and communications strategies. Since the launch of his consulting business, he has worked with dozens of organizations to rebuild and rebrand their communications.
He most recently worked in Detroit at ABC 7, managing a team of producers, writers, and photographer’s while anchoring the weekend morning newscasts. It’s a city he says he grew to love over the years, but is excited to be back in Kansas City.
This is a homecoming for Shaffé who graduated from Park Hill High School and attended Park University where he served as the school’s first mascot in more than 20 years and was the voice of the Park University Athletics.
Joining the KCATA, he plays a critical role as the agency restructures its corporate communications and marketing, in an effort to increase its public profile and reintroduce customers and stakeholders to the benefits the agency brings to the region. These efforts aim to bring increased attention to the agency’s economic development, job access, community engagement, and regional growth initiatives, in addition to its daily operations of public transit under the RideKC brand.
