On Wednesday, January 3, the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority swore in city of Corpus Christi appointee, Eddie Martinez to replace Curtis Rock as board chairman.

On Wednesday, January 3, the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority swore in city of Corpus Christi appointee, Eddie Martinez to replace Curtis Rock as board chairman.

During his time, Eddie Martinez will serve by supporting the mission and values of the CCRTA by; developing policy, providing legal and judiciary oversight, working directly with the CEO, Jorge Cruz-Aedo, and its various departments, focusing on good financial stewardship and accountability of public funds, advocating for customer representation and engaging in strategic planning.

“My goal for the CCRTA is to increase ridership and ensure our riders are satisfied as well as make various service improvements and work with industry,” said Martinez.

Martinez is a pillar within the community and an advocate for various organizations. Martinez works for the Port of Corpus Christi as the Business Development Representative. He is a graduate of Foy H. Moody High School, Del Mar College and the University of The Incarnate Word with a degree in business. Martinez is a project developer with substantial in-house maritime experience and market analysis. He is focused on import/export development and logistical transportation. Martinez also has a broad range of experience in marketing, accounting, auditing and budget management, contract negotiations and real estate development.

The CCRTA has an eleven member board consisting of five appointees by the city of Corpus Christi, two appointees by the Small Cities’ Mayors Committee, and three appointees by Nueces County with a board appointed chairperson. The Board also utilizes two standing committees. Members of the committees are appointed by the Board Chair subject to confirmation by the Board. All policy issues and operational matters must first pass through the Administration Committee or the Operations Committee before action can be taken by the Board.
