The Transit Authority of River City has appointed Russell Goodwin director of marketing, responsible for the agency’s communications including media relations.
Goodwin, 33, has served as interim director of the department since May. He joined TARC in August of 2015 as communications manager, focusing on social media marketing, digital communications, multimedia production and serving as a media spokesperson.
“Russell‘s creative vision will add innovation and help TARC improve communication of our services to customers” said TARC Executive Director J. Barry Barker. “We are so glad to have him lead our Marketing Department during this dynamic period at the agency.”
Earning a Master’s degree in Communications from Bellarmine University in 2014, Goodwin continues to build on his professional portfolio having previously worked at the Louisville Urban League and the Network Center for Community Change (NC3).
His appointment to director of marketing comes at a busy time for the agency, with many strategic initiatives and transformative projects including a new electronic fare collection system in development, scheduled to launch in 2018.
“The new fare collection system will affect every passenger and TARC operator and I look forward to contributing my skill sets in any way I can to make this project a success,” said Goodwin. “We want to hear from passengers and residents, and encourage everyone to engage with TARC to help us make that goal a reality”.
