First Transit has announced the promotion of Beverly Edwards to chief operating officer, reporting directly to Brad Thomas, president. In this newly created position, Edwards will be responsible for the direction and oversight of all transit contracting and transit management daily operations.
Edwards will focus her efforts on improving operational performance for our customers, delivering safe and disciplined operations through the use of key performance metrics, and innovative technology. All operating regions, information technology, and compliance will also report to Edwards.
“Beverly has continued to enhance our operational discipline, proving her effectiveness as a leader, and is more than ready to assume this important new role,” said Thomas, president of First Transit. “With more than 30 years of transportation experience, Beverly will bring her passion and innovative transportation solutions to our customers.”
Edwards joined First Transit in 2007 and most recently served as senior vice president for the central region. A graduate of Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Edwards is a member of the Business Digest Advisory Committee, and a longtime member of the American Public Transportation Association.
