Johnson Named Michigan Area Manager for WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff

Greg Johnson has been appointed Michigan area manager at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.

In his new position, Johnson, a vice president, is responsible for managing operations, establishing strong client relationships and maintaining a focus on business development and marketing for new and existing clients in the Detroit area and statewide. Some of the firm’s projects in the area include design of the Rosa Parks Transit Center in downtown Detroit, construction management for the Detroit Windsor Tunnel ceiling slab replacement, owner’s representative for the 18-mile reconstruction of Interstate 75, on-call consultant for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) connected vehicle program, designer of the seven-mile rebuild of Interstate 96 known as the 96fix project, and owner’s engineer for the Detroit streetlights project.

Johnson has extensive experience as a senior manager and executive in the transportation industry. Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, he was administrator of the Maryland State Highway Administration, responsible for setting strategic direction for the agency, building a high-performing team, and modernizing practices. From 1997 to 2015, he held a variety of senior positions with the MDOT, most recently serving as deputy director/chief engineer/chief operations officer, responsible for design, construction, materials and technology, maintenance, and operations.

A licensed professional engineer in Michigan and Maryland, Johnson received a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Michigan and a master of public administration degree from Western Michigan University. His professional affiliations include Conference of Minority Transportation Officials and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
