VHB Welcomes Cheryl Lowrance as National Practice Leader for Transportation Technology

VHB has announced Cheryl Lowrance, PE, PTOE, PMP, as national practice leader for transportation technology based in Tysons, Virginia.

VHB has announced Cheryl Lowrance, PE, PTOE, PMP, as national practice leader for transportation technology based in Tysons, Virginia. In this role, she will oversee transportation technology efforts firmwide. With more than three decades in the transportation industry, Cheryl brings experience in the project management, design, implementation and operations of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Her knowledge gained from working with local governments, departments of transportation, and consulting firms provides a unique perspective to help clients address evolving technology needs from traffic signal system design to connected vehicle technology.

Considered a leader in traffic management systems design, as well as operations and maintenance of ITS and transportation engineering technologies, Cheryl has held several positions supporting ITS programs at the state and local levels. Most recently, she provided leadership and technical expertise to the USDOT ITS Joint Program Office, including the ITS Evaluation, Professional Capacity Building, and Connected Vehicle Research programs.

Cheryl is an active member of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America and Institute of Transportation Engineers, and a frequent speaker at professional society conferences. She developed the training workshop Connected Vehicle 102: Applications and Planning for Implementation and delivered the course seven times in 2016. She is a licensed professional engineer, professional traffic operations engineer and project management professional. Cheryl earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Technological University.​
