Transdev North America has announced Carl Allen has been promoted from regional vice president of operations in Colorado to vice president of business administration and development.
In the new role, Allen will work to develop alternative transportation models serving customers with disabilities as well, as assisting in the pursuit of Smart City opportunities. Additionally, he will provide support and guidance for the Transdev Executive Committee on business priority execution and project management.
“Carl is an exceptional talent with an intimate knowledge of transportation issues, ranging from broad policy issues to daily operational management,” said Dick Alexander, executive vice president of business development. “He will help steer key strategic initiatives and open new opportunities for growth at this time of major change in the mobility sector.”
As RVP for Colorado, Allen oversaw Transdev On Demand’s three major subsidiaries — Yellow Cab, Supershuttle, and ExecuCar — in Denver, Colorado Springs, Boulder, and Fort Collins. Since joining Transdev On Demand in 2014, Allen worked to improve operations, customer service, data-driven decision-making and KPI dashboards, and the company’s value proposition to the community and to drivers.
Allen came to Transdev On Demand via Boston Public Schools, where he was Director of the Transportation Department, serving over 32,000 students in the Boston area with a fleet of 750 vehicles. Before working with Boston’s schools, Allen studied urban planning, public policy, and transportation economics at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
Allen is a Peace Corps alumnus, having lived and worked for three years in Ghana, West Africa as a volunteer high school math teacher. He also holds degrees in industrial and manufacturing design engineering from Northwestern University and worked for several years in software development in the derivatives trading industry.
