BYD recently announced that BYD Heavy Industries Senior Vice President Macy Neshati has been appointed by the Transportation Research Board, a division of the U.S.’s prestigious National Research Council, to serve on its Transit Research Analysis Committee (TRAC).
As a member of TRAC, Neshati will contribute to the assessment of future public transportation needs that could benefit from federal investment through a national research and technology program. TRAC will also advise the Federal Transit Administration with recommendations on research needs and stakeholder engagement for federal research programs to guide future transit investments.
Neshati, an industry veteran with more than 35 years experience in the heavy equipment and transportation industry, will serve on the committee for a term from August 1, 2016 until July 31, 2018.
“I’ve been in the transportation industry a long time, and it’s clear that we are at a crossroads today regarding clean, zero-emission vehicles, and how best to invest in our growing cities,” Neshati said. “I’m proud to have been asked to join my colleagues on this committee, and look forward to coming up with real solutions that benefit our communities, our economy, and our planet.”
“I’ve been honored to work with Macy over the last several years, and I know just how much knowledge and vision he brings to any conversation,” added Stella Li, president of BYD America. “Macy’s experience in transportation will provide this committee with significant insight into the U.S.’s needs in order to continue to build a reliable and advanced transportation system that keeps our communities moving and thriving.”
