Government Finance Officers Association Awards CCRTA with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
On July 5, 2016, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) announced that Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) received the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for their 2015 budget.
This award represents a significant achievement by the CCRTA. In order to receive the budget award, an organization has to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as: policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.
Budget documents must be rated “proficient,” by GFOA standards, in all four categories, and the fourteen mandatory criteria inside of those categories, to receive this award.
When a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is granted to an organization, a Certificate and Recognition for Budget Presentation is also presented to the individual or department designated as being primarily responsible for achieving the award.
“We are excited to be recognized nationally for such a prestigious award from the GFOA. My staff and administrators worked hard to present our budget in the spirit of full disclosure and transparency, and I’m happy that their hard work is being recognized,” said Jorge Cruz-Aedo, CEO at CCRTA.
