Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority Swears in New Board Member
On March 2, the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) swore City of Corpus Christi appointee, Conrado Garcia, in to replace Tony Elizondo.
During his time, Mr. Garcia will serve by supporting the mission and values of the CCRTA by; developing policy, providing legal and judiciary oversight, working directly with the CEO, Jorge Cruz-Aedo, approving the budget for the CCRTA and its various departments, focusing on good stewardship and accountability of public funds, advocating for customer representation and engaging in strategic planning.
“The best way to serve the needs of our citizens is to provide transportation that is reliable and flexible as well as futuristic. The CCRTA has a strong reputation of supporting the community by personalizing their transportation needs,” said Conrado Garcia, displaying his willingness to serve his community.
Garcia has served his community valiantly as an educator, Principal at Foy H. Moody Health and Science Center and Assistant School Superintendent for West Oso ISD, Coordinator of Corpus Christi Community Advisory Council Representing CITGO, Valero, Flint Hills Resources and the City of Corpus Christi Water Department and adjunct professor, just to name a few of the titles he’s earned throughout the years.
The CCRTA has an eleven member board consisted of five appoints by the City of Corpus Christi, two by the Small Cities’ Mayors Committee, and three by Nueces County with a board appointed chairperson. The Board also utilizes two standing committees and five subcommittees in matters that require special knowledge and or technical judgement. Members of the committees are appointed by the Board Chair subject to confirmation by the Board. All policy issues and operational matters must first pass through the Administration Committee or the Operations Committee before action can be taken by the Board.
